Diff Viewer

About Diff Viewer

Compare two versions of a text and see exactly what changed. Differences can be shown side by side (split) or in a single unified view, at line, word or character granularity.

Useful for reviewing configuration changes, comparing API responses, checking document revisions or spotting a single changed character in a long string. The comparison runs locally in your browser.

How to use

  1. Paste the old text into Original and the new text into Modified.
  2. Click Compare.
  3. Switch between Split and Unified views, and between Line, Word and Char precision.

FAQ

Which diff mode should I use?

Use Line for code and configuration files, Word for prose, and Char for short strings such as tokens, IDs or URLs where a single character may differ.

Why is every line marked as changed?

Usually because of invisible differences such as Windows (\r\n) vs Unix (\n) line endings, tabs vs spaces, or trailing whitespace.

Can I compare JSON?

Yes. For the clearest result, format both documents with the JSON Formatter first so they have the same indentation and key layout.
